Investigators say he was skateboarding under the street and for some unknown reason went under the driver's side wheels.
GOODYEAR -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies are looking into the death of a 12-year-old in Goodyear.
A semi truck hit and killed the boy shortly before 8 p.m. Monday.
According to investigators, the boy was riding a skateboard on Avondale Boulevard, approximately one-half mile north of Broadway Road, when the 18-wheeler hit him.
Deputy Lindsey Smith said it appears the boy was riding his skateboard in the middle of the road and for an unknown reason went under the driver's side wheels.
The boy, whose name has not been released, suffered fatal injuries.
According to Smith, alcohol, drugs and speed are not considered factors in this case.
