Thieves rammed truck into store before robbery

PHOENIX - Hundreds of dollars worth of weapons were stolen from a Tempe gun shop and it was all caught on tape.

The store where the smash and grab took place is located near Baseline and McClintock. This certainly was not the way store owner Ron Uthe wanted to spend the Thanksgiving holiday.

Just before 4 a.m. on Thursday thieves drove a stolen full size pick-up truck right through the front of Uthe's store, Arizona Tactical Firearms in Tempe.

The two men appear to be wearing ski masks on the surveillance tape, one red one black, and they got away with at least four weapons worth over $3,000, including an AK-47 and a shotgun but they left other very expensive weapons untouched.

You can see the thieves jumping over the counter and grabbing the weapons right off the wall on the surveillance tape as well.

Ron says someone tried to break in just a couple of days ago and now police are also investigating whether this case might be connected to another burglary at a gun store in Chandler earlier in the week. In that case the thieves stole 12 weapons.

In all, the thieves caused more than $30,000 in damage at Ron's store.
