UPDATE: One of the seriously injured children involved in the accident has passed away.
Samuel Medina Valenzuela, 7, succumbed to his injuries Tuesday afternoon at Maricopa Medical Center Hospital.
His family was as the hospital with him at the time of death.
Also Mesa police have identified the adult male passenger who died on Easter evening as Jaime Luz Torres, 28.
Fatal accident kills three
ORIGINAL: MESA - Two young Valley boys are without their mother after she was killed in a crash.
It happened on Easter Sunday around 6:45 p.m. in Mesa.
According to police two adults were ejected from their pick-up truck after two trucks collided near Gilbert Road and Eighth Avenue.
The mother of the two boys has been identified as Reyna Pacheco, 42, of Mesa.
Pacheco's two boys, age 7, were also inside the truck.
Both of those boys had to be rushed to the hospital. One of the boys was airlifted with life threatening head injuries.
Mesa police said the victims were in the left hand turn lane on Gilbert Road driving a Toyota Tacoma and tried to cross all three lanes of traffic at once before the other vehicle struck the truck.
Witnesses say they tried to help, but there was little they could do
"We heard the collision and I ran out I sprinted out there," a witness said. "That corner used to be bad all the time. I ran out there and did what I can do.I'm first aid certified, if I had to help anybody."
Two men in their 20's were in the other truck, they are okay.
Both boys are still being treated at Maricopa County Hospital for their head injuries.
The male victim has not yet been identified pending next of kin notifications.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, but there were no signs of impairment at the accident.
