2 toddlers recovering after separate near-drowning incidents - Two toddlers are recovering after separate near drowning incidents, both in backyard swimming pools.
The first happened at a home near 93rd Avenue and Beardsley Road in Peoria at about 3:00 Sunday afternoon.
According to police, the 2-year-old girl was at a family gathering.
Several adults were around the pool at the time. One of them spotted the toddler in the water.
"This is one of those things where we had a family get together -- it was apparently a family and friends that were all together," said Mike Tellef, spokesman for Peoria's police and fire departments. "They were out by the pool and somebody just was not paying attention to the pool constantly like they were supposed to."
The little girl was in stable condition Monday morning, but doctors want to keep her in the hospital for observation for the next couple of days.
The second incident involved a 2-year-old boy.
He was pulled from a pool during a family gathering in Goodyear Sunday night.
He was rushed to the hospital and is expected to be fine,
