PHOENIX -- The Arizona Democratic party has named a new executive director.
Luis Heredia will leave his position as a Union Pacific Railroad spokesman for Arizona and New Mexico to become the state party's new executive director.
Heredia says he's honored to join state Democrats to unite for party victories in 2010 and beyond.
The Gilbert resident is a native Arizonan who was raised in Somerton in the southwestern part of the state.
Heredia has led a number of campaign efforts, including door-to-door voter contact and registration drives. He has served as a party officer in several capacities and was named Arizona's young Democrat of the year in 2005.
Heredia is married and has a son.
