Yuma County sheriff named to security panelPosted: Updated:
YUMA -- Yuma County's sheriff has been selected by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to serve on a security advisory council.
Sheriff Ralph Ogden said he's been "pretty vocal" about border security issues in the Yuma area.
The diverse group of national security experts is charged with examining the Department of Homeland Security's efforts along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Napolitano said in a news release that the task force, comprised of law enforcement, elected officials and national security experts from around the country, will advise the department on key issues facing Southwest border communities.
The former Arizona governor said she asked for "concrete recommendations" from the task force to address the complex challenges faced by the region.
