Lake Powell at highest level in yearsPosted: Updated:
LAKE POWELL -- Thanks to the wettest winter in a decade, Lake Powell is at its highest level in six years.
It's 63 percent full. While that's still 67 feet below the full mark, the lake, which is on the Colorado River, is 45 feet higher than it was in March.
Hydrologists attribute the change to a wet winter and a fairly active monsoon. They also said it could also be an indication that the Colorado is recovering from one of the worst dry spells ever.
