D-Backs moving spring training to Scottsdale

PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies plan to move their spring training operations to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community near Phoenix in 2011.

D-backs moving spring training to Valley - The Diamondbacks and Rockies have signed a 25-year deal with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community for a new spring training facility on the reservation.

Under terms of an agreement announced on Thursday, the tribe has agreed to build an 11,000-seat ballpark and a complex that includes 12 practice fields, training facilities and offices.

The 140-acre site is adjacent to Scottsdale, near Indian Bend Road and the 101 freeway. It is believed to be the first major league spring training facility on tribal land.

The deal is for 25 years with options to extend.

The Diamondbacks and Rockies have been looking to move their spring training bases from Tucson after the Chicago White Sox moved to a facility in Phoenix this year.
