DHL laying off employees here in Arizona and cutting servicesPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - Shipping company DHL announced cutbacks Monday.
Ninety-five hundred employees will be laid off in the U.S. Many of the layoffs at DHL's hub in Wilmington, Ohio.
A spokesperson from the German born company said they are cutting almost 10,000 jobs worldwide.
They said the cuts will start after the first of the year and will affect drivers, shipping clerks and warehouse workers.
Here in Arizona DHL has one center in Scottsdale and one in Phoenix.
No word on how many local employees will be affected by the job cuts.
Express service for air and ground will also stop nationwide.
Changes are being made to offset higher fuel costs and a $1.5 billion dollar loss in revenue for the year.
