TEMPE - A police officer is in stable condition after being involved in a crash on Sunday morning.

Officer Todd Long, a 13-year-veteran of the Tempe Police Department, was injured during a collision that took place just after 2 a.m. at University Dr. and Dorsey Lane.

Police tell 3TV Officer Long was traveling east on University at Dorsey when the driver of a white Mitsubishi Eclipse who was traveling west on University made a left-hand turn in front of Officer Long's patrol car.

The driver of the car, identified as 19-year-old Avis Badilla received minor injuries.

His sister was in the passenger seat and was reportedly uninjured.

Authorities say it does not appear drugs or alcohol were a factor in the wreck. It is unclear which citations Badilla may face.
