Documents show St. Johns boy had threatened to kill fatherPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF -- Relatives of a 9-year-old St. Johns boy charged in the deaths of his father and another man told investigators the boy had threatened his father before the shootings.
Documents released by prosecutors discuss the incidents but provide few details.
In an interview with state Department of Public Safety officials, a cousin said that during a family reunion in August, the boy threatened to either shoot or kill his dad, but that the statement was made out of anger.
An uncle told investigators he overheard the boy saying during a recent hunting trip that he would kill his father one day.
Police contend the boy used a .22-caliber rifle to shoot his father, Vincent Romero, and Timothy Romans as the men returned home from work on Nov. 5.
