Chandler police ID suspect in '06 sexual assault at park

CHANDLER -- The Chandler Police Department is searching for a suspect who sexually assaulted a woman in a park three years ago.

According to Detective David Ramer, a 22-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in San Marcos Park as she walked to work around 6 a.m. on April 8, 2006.

After the attack, the suspect fled south into a neighborhood.

The park is located near Fairview and Evergreen streets in Chandler.

Based on physical evidence collected at the scene and witness information, the suspect has been identified as Guadalupe Olivas, 28.

Olivas is between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 140 to 160 pounds. He has brown or reddish hair, possibly shaved, and brown eyes. He also has visible acne scars on his face.

Ramer said Olivas speaks both Spanish and English.

The Chandler Police Department is asking for the public's help to locate Olivas.

Ramer said Olivas has ties to Chandler and Phoenix and is a Mexican national.

Anyone with information about Olivas' whereabouts is asked to call the Chandler Police Department.
