Indian gaming contributions down 9.4 percentPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Tribal contributions from Indian-run casinos are down 9.4 percent from the same quarter a year ago.
The Arizona Department of Gaming said that tribal contributions to the state from gaming revenue will be approximately $23.5 million.
There are currently 22 casinos in the state that offer slots, table games, keno and off track pari-mutuel betting. Tribes send contributions to the state Arizona Benefits Fund every three months.
The gaming dollar breakdown includes $11.7 million for instructional improvement, $5.8 million for the Trauma and Emergency Services Fund, $2.1 million to help operate the Arizona Department of Gaming and $1.6 million for the Arizona Wildlife Conservation Fund.
State tourism is slated to get $1.6 million and $475,000 is headed to problem gambling, education and treatment.
