Car crashes through house - A woman was injured when her car went through a house, across the patio and into a garage.
SUN CITY WEST -- A driver was injured when she lost consciousness and crashed through a home in Sun City West Tuesday morning.
The car went through the corner of a home in the 13000 block of Aleppo Drive, which is near 136th Avenue and Bell Road.
The driver lost consciousness and drove through the side wall of a home, according to Deputy Chief Steve Penney of the Sun City West Fire District.
The car then went through a courtyard and a second wall and into the garage, hitting a vehicle inside.
"There was a significant amount of damage to the home," Penney said. "We're lucky the house didn't go ahead and have a total collapse."
The driver, who was identified as Earnestine Ellison, 73, was transported to a Valley hospital where she is listed in stable condition. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
The couple who live in the home, John and Dorothy Mahoney, were in a room adjacent to where the car went through and were not injured.
"They narrowly escaped," Penney said. "The car just about hit both of them."
