According to police, the suspect approached a teller at the U.S. Bank inside the Safeway store near 68th and Peoria avenues a little after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He said, "This is a robbery," and told the teller to hand over all of the money.

Peoria police spokesman Mike Tellef said the teller complied and the suspect left the bank with the cash.

The suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a white "FUBU" shirt, a white hat and long blue-and-white plaid shorts that extended below the knee. He possibly had a ponytail tucked under his hat.

Tellef said the suspect was last seen driving a rental-type box truck that was approximately 20 feet long.

Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
