PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks placed shortstop Stephen Drew on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained left hamstring.

The club filled Drew's roster spot by purchasing the contract of utility infielder Josh Wilson from Triple-A Reno.

Wilson hit .260 with a home run and 10 RBIs in 15 games for Reno.

Drew's move was retroactive to Saturday. Manager Bob Melvin said Drew will be able to take batting practice while he's on the DL.

Drew is hitting .205 with one hit in his last 16 at-bats.

Arizona also optioned left-hander Doug Slaten to Triple-A Reno and recalled right-hander Esmerling Vasquez.
