Boldin has fractured sinus membranePosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin has a fractured sinus as a result of what he acknowledges was the worst hit he's received in his football career.
Boldin told reporters yesterday that he doesn't know how long he will be sidelined.
But when he returns, the two-time Pro Bowler says there'll be no change in his trademark tough, aggressive style.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended New York Jets safety Eric Smith for one game and fined him 50,000 dollars for the vicious, helmet-to-helmet hit on Boldin in the end zone during the waning seconds of the Jets' 56-35 victory over the Cardinals at the Meadowlands last Sunday.
Boldin says he was consulting with doctors on whether to have the sinus repaired or let it heal on its own.
He expected a decision in the next couple of days.
Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt says that until he hears from doctors, he's not ruling out Boldin's participation in Sunday's home game against the undefeated Buffalo Bills although it seems highly improbable that Boldin will play.
