CHANDLER - Police say a chandler jewelry store owner fired shots at a couple of men who came into his store looking to rob the place.

This took place Saturday night at Christopher Diamonds Jewelry Store near Chandler Boulevard and Coronado.

3TV is told two suspects and the store owner fired shots inside the store. One of the suspects was arrested and another killed. Kenneth Wayne Simpson, Jr., 27, was taken into custody and booked into the Maricopa County Jail for possessing a firearm as a prohibited possessor. He also faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and murder in the first degree during a crime. The suspect who was killed has been identified as 46-year-old Kevin William Murray, of El Mirage.

According to investigators, the two men busted into the store and attempted to rob the owners at gunpoint. That is when police say the owner pulled out a gun of his own and both the suspects and owner opened fire.

The owner of the store was also shot but is expected to survive.
