Cardinals open at home against 49ersPosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Arizona Cardinals will open their 2009 season at home against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 13 and will play at least three nationally televised night games.
The schedule, like all others in the NFL, was released on Tuesday. It reflects the Cardinals' higher national profile in the wake of their unexpected run to the Super Bowl last season.
Arizona plays three of its first four games and it's final two games at home.
The Cardinals open at home for only the second time since 1988. After that, the Cardinals are at Jacksonville, then return home to face the Indianapolis Colts in a nationally televised Sunday night game on Sept. 27.
Arizona's other two games receiving nationwide exposure are Sunday night Oct. 25 at the New York Giants and Monday night Dec. 14 at the San Francisco 49ers.
