Cardinals name ex-Chiefs assistant Modkins as running backs coachPosted: Updated:
TEMPE -- The Arizona Cardinals have named former Kansas City Chiefs assistant Curtis Modkins as running backs coach.
He replaces Maurice Carthon, who was named assistant head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday.
Carthon followed Todd Haley to Kansas City.
Haley was offensive coordinator for coach Ken Whisenhunt in Arizona for two seasons before being hired as head coach of the Chiefs earlier this month.
The NFC champion Cardinals also promoted Bill Davis from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator, added running game coordinator to Russ Grimm's existing duties as assistant head coach and offensive line coach and promoted Mike Miller from receivers coach to passing game coordinator.
Arizona also elevated Matt Raich from defensive assistant to linebackers coach and hired John McNulty as receivers coach and Chris Miller as quarterbacks coach.
With the departure of Haley, Whisenhunt said he would return to calling the plays, as he did most of the 2007 Cardinals season.
