X-mas Day murder-suicide involving estranged husbandPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide Friday morning.
Emergency operators got a call around 8 p.m. on Christmas Day about a shooting near 24th Drive and Glendale Avenue.
When police arrived they found a woman dead in the front yard that had been shot. Officers say family members told them the woman's estranged husband showed up at the home and asked her to step outside to talk.
That is when they heard a gun shot and saw the suspect running away. That man was found six houses away dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The woman's children were home during this incident.
Lt. Robert Sparks tells 3TV, "Unfortunately on Christmas this was witnessed by the victim's family. We have a couple families here at a family gathering and we will have the AR vans, the response vans come out and do counseling with the family."
Investigators say there was some kind of dispute between the two over criminal damage recently. They have not released the identities of those involved.
