TEMPE -- Two people were arrested in connection with two separate thefts of donated items outside a Goodwill store Sunday night.

The second theft occurred less than 20 minutes after the first one.

Goodwill security cameras observed a man removing several bags of donated items at about 9:40 p.m. from the rear of the store at Guadalupe and Rural roads and placing them in his vehicle.

Rene R. Arellano, 25, of Tempe, was arrested for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Less than 20 minutes later, Peggy I. Boling, 50, of Tempe, was seen on security cameras taking additional items from the donation area of the store.

A Tempe police officer, who was already in the area, knew that there were three large bags of goods sitting in the donation area. When he saw that they were gone, he located a Boling, who had the bags in her vehicle.

Boling admitted to taking the donated items. She was booked into Tempe City Jail on one count of theft.
