Teen, child hurt in morning wreck not wearing seat beltsPosted: Updated:
PEORIA -- Three people, including a 4-year-old and a 15-year-old, were injured in an early morning accident at 75th and Peoria avenues Tuesday, and two of them reportedly were not wearing seat belts.
It happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. Two vehicles were involved.
According to the Peoria Fire Department, a southbound passenger car collided with a northbound pickup that was making a left from 75th Avenue to Peoria Avenue.
Witnesses said both vehicles had green lights.
A 28-year-old woman, who was alone in the car, suffered a head injury and was flown to St Joseph's Hospital. Her injuries reportedly are not life threatening.
The 18-year-old behind the wheel of the pickup was not hurt.
A 15-year-old girl who was a passenger in the truck was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital by ground ambulance. A 4-year-old boy was taken to Banner Thunderbird Medical Center. Both the teen and the child are expected to be fine.
Mike Tellef of the Peoria Police and Fire Departments said neither the 15-year-old nor the 4-year-old were wearing seat belts.
