PHOENIX - The following is a press release from the Prescott Police Department:
At 8:30 P.M. yesterday evening, Prescott Police investigated a serious head-on traffic collision on Highway 89 about ½ miles south of Highway 89A. Investigation revealed that 38-year old Chino resident, Christopher L. Everidge was driving a Kia Sportage southbound on Highway 89 when he drifted left of center into the northbound lanes of traffic. A Chevy Suburban was traveling northbound and attempted to avoid the Kia by braking and moving onto the northbound shoulder when the vehicles collided head-on and causing the Kia to roll.
The adult driver of the suburban was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center as was the 6 passengers, ranging from ages 5-14. One passenger was then airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center for serious facial injuries and another passenger was then transported to the Phoenix Children's Hospital for a fractured pelvis and internal bleeding.
Everidge, who was the sole occupant of the Kia, was also transported and treated YRMC. Further investigation determined that Everidge was in possession and driving under the influence of dangerous drugs. After he was released from YRMC, he was transported to the Yavapai County Jail where he was booked for the above charges as well as felony charges of Criminal Damage and 7 counts each of Aggravated Assault and Endangerment.
