Man arrested for various charges involving sexual activityPosted: Updated:
HILLSIDE, AZ - The following is a report from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office:
On July 24, 2008, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Deputies arrested 45-year-old Stephen Neshem for various charges involving sexual activity with three minor victims. The charges include six counts of Sexual Conduct with a Minor, two counts of Sexual Abuse, and six counts of Child Molestation. The activity occurred over a period of time during the early 1990's while Neshem lived on the Mule Shoe Ranch property in Hillside, Arizona.
The victims included Neshem's step-daughter, her friend and the girlfriend of Neshem's son. One of the victims was as young as 12 when the molestation began. Neshem also had a sexual relationship with his step-daughter's 14-year-old girlfriend who eventually became pregnant.
YCSO became aware of the abuse allegations when one of the victim's family members called in 1996 to report knowledge of the activity. Children Protective Services and YCSO began an investigation which also required locating victims who had moved out of state. The investigation was briefly closed for a period time due in part to victim reluctance and logistical issues created by victim's living out of state. Recently, one of the victims contacted YCSO detectives and expressed a willingness to seek prosecution for Neshem's actions.
Neshem was arrested at his home near Bagdad, Arizona and booked on the indicated charges at the Prescott Detention Center.
