TEMPE -- A suitcase was discovered in the parking lot of the Tempe Marketplace which prompted a partial closure of the shopping center and nearby McClintock Drive while police worked to determine whether the bag was dangerous.

Using a robotic device, the bomb squad isolated the luggage and then blasted the bag with a shotgun.

The luggage did not contain any exposive materials. The area has been reopened to the public, as well as nearby roads.

The area around the suitcase and nearby roads were affected for about an hour and a half.
