Carpenter prepares for final home startPosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- As an underclassman, Arizona State quarterback Rudy Carpenter looked forward to Senior Night. Now that it's almost here, he admits that "it's a little sad."
Carpenter has been cheered and booed in his three-plus seasons as Arizona State's starting quarterback.
Carpenter says he isn't quite sure what he'll hear when he's introduced during Senior Night ceremonies at his final home start against UCLA Friday night.
Carpenter ranks third in Pac-10 history with 80 touchdown passes. He needs six to overtake former Sun Devil Andrew Walter in second place behind former USC star Matt Leinart.
Carpenter's 25 victories as a starting quarterback are third in ASU history. He's one behind Dennis Sproul and five behind Danny White, who won 30 games in three seasons in the marginal Western Athletic Conference.
