Webb returning to Phoenix to get shoulder examined

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Arizona Diamondbacks ace Brandon Webb has had another setback.

Webb's shoulder started bothering him again yesterday while playing catch in Kansas City, so he was sent back to Phoenix to have it examined again.

Webb made only one start this season before going on the disabled list April 13 with a sore shoulder. He was a 22-game winner last year. Webb has won at least 14 games in the previous four seasons.

Meanwhile, D-Backs reliever Tom Gordon threw 35 pitches yesterday in his first bullpen session since going on the disabled list May 4 with a pulled left hamstring. Gordon said after throwing the pitches that his leg wasn't bothering him.

Gordon has 159 career saves and is 0-1 with a 21.60 ERA in three games this year.
