CAVE CREEK - Maricopa County deputies are sorting out the details of an apparent murder suicide in the northeast Valley.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Mary Raver and the suspect who allegedly shot her before turning the gun on himself was 49-year-old Jim Fraser.
It happened before dawn in Cave Creek near north 60th Street and Lone Mountain Road. Investigators confirmthat the woman who called 911 and the woman murdered were both from out of state.
Julie Moran, a neighbor, explains, "We were wakened early this morning by spotlights and search lights of helicopter."
Sheriff's deputies responded to a shots fired call shortly after 4 a.m. on Tuesday at a home off Lowden Drive.
MCSO spokesperson Doug Matteson says they, "Noticed a very intoxicated femalegave us information that a male shooter had shot a woman and we are now searching for him.
The sheriff's office SWAT team and bomb squad scoured the neighborhood.
Four schools, including the school Moran's son attends were placed on lockdown. She says, "My oldest sonwent to take him, couldn't get in."
Brian Lee, also with MCSO, adds, "Our SWAT team made entry with assistance of robotfound a deceased male and female."
Moran says the man who owns the home was well liked. She says he was, "A single father with his son and daughter and the daughter babysat my boys when we first moved here a good three years ago. My kids were close with his son as well."
Tuesday morning his daughter, Lindsey was embraced by others as news of an apparent murder-suicide spread.
Authorities are still gathering evidence on the property. They are gloved and being cautious as they walk the yard and examine all areas trying to piece together a motive for murder and then suicide.
The man who lived at the home was known by friends as "the pickle man". He used to sell pickles for a living but recently got out of the business to do some mechanical-oriented work.3TV is told he had a girlfriend but spent the holidays alone.
