PHOENIX - The Arizona Board of Regents is looking to cut funding for the AIMS scholarship and tighten eligibility requirements for high school sophomores.

The regents are looking to keep the scholarship but cut the award down to $3,000 a year and limit it to students who achieve an "exceeds" on the AIMS the first time they take it.

The changes would affect the high school class of 2011 and are being considered at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and University of Arizona.

The more than 5500 students who have the scholarship now and high school juniors and seniors wouldn't be affected by the changes.
