PHOENIX -- Phoenix police say a teenager hiking in North Mountain Park after hours fell to his death.

Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said it appears that alcohol was involved in the death of 19-year-old Paul Andreas.

Thompson said a little before 7 a.m., police received a call that a person had fallen in North Mountain Park.

Two teens, a 17-year-old and Andreas, went hiking in the area Sunday at about 8:30 p.m. The 17-year-old reportedly passed out and when he woke up, he couldn't find his friend.

The teen climbed off the mountain to look for his companion. He located the vehicle, but did not see his friend. The 17-year-old climbed back up the mountain and found Andreas' body after falling about 75 feet to 100 feet.

The teen climbed back down the mountain, drove home and called police. Authorities say they do not believe foul play was involved.
