14-Year-old arrested for multiple robberies across the state

SURPRISE - On Saturday, April 18 Surprise Police Detectives arrested and charged 14-year-old Justin Neely of Tempe in connection with an attempted robbery of the Ross Clothing Store located at 13700 block of West Bell Road, Surprise.

On April 4, Neely entered the Ross store and demanded money from the cashier.

The cashier stated that Neely held a back pack in front of him with his hand inside of it as if he were holding a weapon. When the cashier refused his demands, Neely fled the store without the money.

Neely was listed as a runaway and as an investigative lead in a similar robbery in Tempe.

Neely was taken into custody in El Mirage on Saturday during an unrelated incident.

When Surprise detectives interviewed Neely, he confessed to committing robberies in Tempe, Surprise and at the Food City Store in El Mirage.

Neely was charged with robbery then transported and turned over to Tempe Police Officers.
