Marley's visit lifted patients' spirits

PHOENIX - One of the stars from the new hit movie "Marley and Me" was in the Valley Tuesday visiting children at the Phoenix Children's Hospital.

It wasn't Jennifer Anniston or Owen Wilson making the rounds. Instead it was Marley himself putting a smile on faces.

Marley got along very well with the kids at the hospital. One little boy couldn't even wait for the movie star dog to make it into the hospital and met him in the lobby.

Sean Fang, a patient said, "He's a good dog." Sean has been in the hospital for about a week and his mom, Melyana, says he was getting bored being cooped up in a hospital room. She admits, "It nice to see him forget about everything that's going on."

Groups of smiling children filled the halls to get their picture taken with Marley and to watch him perform some tricks for them allowing both parents and kids put their troubles behind them.

Another patient said, "It's nice cause I just had surgery and its nice to bring some joy."

Afterwards Marley visited children who are unable to leave their rooms. One little girl got an early Christmas present from Marley.

Of course he had to meet the Valley's Marjerle, former Suns star Dan Marjerle, at the US Airways Center. He said, "A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor. Give him your heart and he'll give you his."

Marley will end his doggone day by making a guest appearance with Dan at Tuesday's Suns game.
