Excessive heat warning extended for Phoenix areaPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- The National Weather Service has extended its excessive heat warning through Tuesday evening for the Phoenix area.
The excessive heat warning continues til Tuesday as the temps remain above 110 for the week ahead.
Predicted highs Monday and Tuesday should be around 115 degrees.
Forecasters say the high-pressure system responsible for the excessive heat might be strengthening which means the heat warning may be continued through Saturday.
The Weather Service said it issues excessive heat warnings when the forecast calls for extreme heat or the combination of extreme heat and very low or very high humidity that can harm the average adult who has not taken precautions. People are urged to drink lots of water and limit their exposure to the heat.
Sunday's high was 115, which tied a record for the date.
Monday's low was 90.
