PHOENIX (AP) -- Corey Patterson homered to give the Cincinnati Reds a 2-1 victory in 10 innings over the slumping Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday.
With one out, the .202-hitting Patterson hit a 3-2 pitch high off the right-field foul pole against Jon Rauch (4-8), sending the Diamondbacks to their eighth loss in nine games. Arizona remains 4 1/2 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West. Los Angeles lost 1-0 in 10 innings at Colorado.
Patterson's shot was Cincinnati's third hit and ended a string of 19 straight men retired by Diamondbacks pitchers.
Arizona is home tonight against San Francisco.
