PHOENIX - Family, friends and colleagues gathered to say goodbye to one of the Valley's finest.
Police officer Barry Scott was laid to rest at North Phoenix Baptist Church Saturday. He died after suffering head injuries in a charity boxing match.
Sunday his mother read a poem she wrote while Scott was in the hospital.
Officer Scott was a rookie having only been on the force for a short ten months.
Before joining the department Scott was fighting the war in Iraq with the Army National Guard. He was 22 years old.
