According to Phoenix Police, witnesses told officers that around 6:30 a.m., Saturday, Juan Loera, 20, was speeding down Lower Buckeye Road in a blue Acura.

The car struck a white Murano that was turning from 87th Avenue onto Lower Buckeye Road.

A three-year-old boy and passenger Blanca Garcia were ejected from the SUV and died on scene.

The driver of the SUV, Laura Hernandex-Urbina, 33, was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Melky Munoz was also riding in the SUV and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Andres Chacon, 19, was the sole passenger in the Acura and was also pronounced dead on scene. Loera, the driver of that car, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Roads in the area were closed for much of Saturday morning.

Police continue to investigate the accident, but believe that alcohol and/or drugs might also be a factor in the cause of the accident.
