Speed limits raised for photo-enforcement cameras

Eliminates inconsistencies

PHOENIX -- Arizona drivers can now drive 11 miles per hour over the speed limit on Valley freeways without getting caught by a photo-enforcement camera.

On Thursday the Arizona Department of Public Safety raised the speed threshold for photo enforcement violations from 10 miles per hour to 11 in all locations.

The director of DPS says the new trigger speed eliminates inconsistencies with the cameras.

It's important to remember - while the threshold for photo enforcement cameras has changed DPS officers can still issue citations at speeds under the 11 mile per hour trigger speed.
