MESA - Five players on the Mesa Mountain View Junior Varsity football team are facing suspension for allegedly possessing unauthorized prescription drugs on school campus.
Mesa Public School's spokesperson Kathy Bareiss said school officials caught one of the students distributing his medication to four other teammates.
The district said the school resource officer was notified of the incident, but no police report was filed.
The students will also attend a drug intervention and awareness program as part of their punishment.
