FOUNTAIN HILLS - The wife of Diamondbacks pitcher Scott Schoeneweis was found dead on Wednesday.

Gabrielle Schoeneweis was just 39 years old.

Her 14-year-old daughter found her on the floor of the master bedroom in the family's Fountain Hills home at about noon on Wednesday. She was unresponsive.

Emergency crews arrived to find Gabrielle Schoeneweis dead.

Schoeneweis, a relief pitcher, was with the Diamondbacks in Florida for a game Wednesday night when he heard the news. He immediately flew home. The team issued a statement, saying, "Words cannot describe how shocked and saddened we are this evening. This is a tragedy for the Schoeneweis family, who we natually consider members of our family. We are here to support Scott in any way during this traumatic period in his life."

Gabrielle and Scott met in Scottsdale. The two had four children, one of whom is a daughter from Gabrielle's previous relationship.

Investigators say some of the children were at home with their mother while others were at school.

Deputies say Gabrielle's body showed no signs of trauma. The medical examiner is now trying to figure out how she died.
