Crypto parasite strikes Buckeye swimming poolPosted: Updated:
BUCKEYE -- Crypto has stricken another Valley swimming pool. This time it's the Buckeye Aquatic Center.
, a parasite that causes intestinal issues, has forced the temporary closure of public pools throughout the Valley this summer, including facilities in Phoenix, Tempe and Goodyear.
A lab test of the water at the Buckeye Aquatic Center on Wednesday was positive for the intestinal parasite. That means the pool will have to be super-chlorinated or "shocked."
Parks and recreation workers said the gates should be open in time for Friday evening's open swim.
