Since inaugurating service Oct. 25, 2007, Allegiant has expanded its low-cost service from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport to 15 markets. During the past year alone, Allegiant has carried more than 310,000 customers to and from the Phoenix-Mesa area. Allegiant has carried customers representing 15 Arizona counties: 77.6 percent from Maricopa County alone.

Allegiant Air and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway have enjoyed a successful first year together. To build on this success and continue to grow, it was recognized that an expansion of the current terminal space was necessary. A $3 million expansion plan is currently underway to include a new departure lobby, a courtyard seating area and modifications to the existing building to increase passenger capacity. Ensuring mutual benefit and success for the airport and the community, Allegiant has loaned Phoenix-Mesa Gateway the $3 million necessary for these improvements with repayment of the $3 million loan to be made at a rate of $4 per enplanement for the next one million passengers enplaned at the airport.
