PHOENIX - UPDATE @ 12:15pm: The suspect, Adrian Cardenas, surrendered peacefully to police after they made entry to the home. The suspect is in police custody pending charges.
The following is a press release from the Department of Public Safety:
Detectives and Special Operation personnel from the AZ Department of Public Safety and the Phoenix Police Department have secured a perimeter around the residence at 1622 West Pollack in Phoenix.
This incident began earlier this morning when Phoenix PD was conducting an investigation which brought the PD detectives to the residence.
Detectives initially spoke with an adult female at the residence and while talking with her an adult male at the residence in the backyard area began to flee from the residence.
Detectives chased after the adult male and within minutes he wound back at the residence where it became a barricaded incident. The adult female is currently being detained for questioning.
The Detectives observed dismantled parts in the yard which may indicated a chop shop operation was being conducted at the residence.
The residents in the immediate area were all evacuated for safety.
Currently the DPS and PHX special operation teams are in place to do an entry and are awaiting a search warrant in order to do the entry and search. Negotiators have been continuously attempting to convince the adult male to walk out of the residence without incident. At this time the adult male has been non-compliant.
