De La Rosa wins fifth straight for RockiesPosted: Updated:
DENVER (AP) -- Jorge De La Rosa pitched seven strong innings in his fifth consecutive win and drove in two runs as the Colorado Rockies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-6 last night.
Every Colorado starter except Brad Hawpe (hahp) had at least one hit, and the Rockies scored at least one run in each of the first five innings. Dexter Fowler and Chris Iannetta homered.
With the win and San Francisco's loss to Atlanta, the Rockies moved into the National League wild card lead, one-half game ahead of the Giants.
Mark Reynolds and Stephen Drew homered for the Diamondbacks.
De La Rosa started the season 0-6 but is 7-1 since May 31. He gave up one run on four hits, struck out six and walked one.
He also had a career-high two hits. The two RBIs were also a career best.
The three-game series continues tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 at Coors Field in Denver.
