The following is a press release from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office:
COTTONWOOD -- On February 22, 2009, at approximately 5:30 A.M., Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported unknown "drunk male" who had been found passed out on a couch in a room where children were sleeping. The home is located in the 1300 block of East Peila Avenue, Cottonwood. The subject had been located by the father who saw the male sleeping on his couch while checking on his children during the morning. The father held him pending arrival of deputies. Once on scene, the deputies identified the male as 16-year-old Nathan Stewart, and determined he resides in a neighborhood several blocks away.
Stewart was unable to explain how he ended up in the home of a complete stranger. Stewart did recall attending a party out in the desert earlier, but was unsure how he arrived in the Peila Avenue neighborhood. He remembered entering the victim's home through an unlocked door and passing out on a couch in the living room. Stewart could not recall what time he had entered the home.
Deputies arrested Stewart for several charges including Criminal Trespassing, Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct and Minor Consuming Alcohol. He was transported to the Prescott Juvenile Detention Center and booked.
