Light rail ridership exceeds expectationsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- There is some good economic news out of the Valley Thursday morning.
Valley Metro says more people rode the light rail in January than planners had predicted would ride after a year of service.
In fact, the number of light-rail riders averages out to be about 30,000 passengers a day.
Five thousand more people rode the rail during the week than expected and on the weekend, the number jumped to 10,000 more.
