PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Police Department came out firing this week in an impressive weapons display at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy.

An officer's weapon is often the last line of defense, the line between life and death on the streets and as criminals continue to arm themselve, Phoenix police have decided to double the number of patrol rifles to 120 - one for every squad.

Training officers demonstrated a wide variety of those weapons, from Glock handguns to the newest high powered rifles to one of the old standbys - the shotgun.

Sargent Draughn says the new shipment of weapons should be in by the end of October and training will begin in November.
