Man threatens high school student with knife

FLAGSTAFF - The following is a press release from the Flagstaff Police Department:

On Tuesday, June 16 at approximately 7:00pm, officers were called to a reported robbery and assault in the area of Flagstaff High School.The investigation revealed a juvenile walking home after football practice was confronted by a man asking for money.The juvenile ignored the man who started cussing at the boy and approaching him in an aggressive manner.The boy pushed the man back to defend himself and the man pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened the boy, asking if he wanted to fight.

The juvenile ran back to other friends on the FUTS trail and told them about the man with the knife.The man rode his bike past the group of juveniles cussing and displaying the knife.Police Officers surrounded the area and arrested George Dirgo, 23, transient, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, threats and disorderly conduct after he was positively identified by the victims.The investigation is pending.
