Drug dealer swallows evidence during arrestPosted: Updated:
TEMPE - The following is a press release from the Tempe Police Department:
A suspected drug dealer who would've gone straight to jail had to spend some time at the hospital first, after he swallowed a large quantity of heroin and cocaine packages during his arrest.
Jose Gomez-Garcia, 30, a transient, was arrested on Jan. 22 in the area of McClintock and Ellis drives after repeatedly selling heroin to undercover Tempe Police Narcotics Detectives. But before he could be taken into custody, he swallowed a large quantity of the evidence.
Since the quantity of drugs was enough to cause the instant death of Gomez-Garcia if they were to open in his stomach, he was taken to a local hospital where he passed the packages safely through his body.
The three-month investigation into Gomez-Garcia also resulted in the arrests of three delivery drivers and the seizure of 12 grams of Cocaine, 7.5 grams of Heroin, $4,200 and four vehicles.
Gomez-Garcia was charged with four counts of Sale of Narcotic Drugs.
