GLENDALE -- A Glendale gas station was closed early Wednesday morning after a car slammed into one of the pumps, sparking a fire.

It happened at about 3 a.m. at the Circle K near 83rd and Glendale avenues.

A woman who was coming out of the McDonald's apparently didn't see the gas pump and plowed right into it.

She was able to get out of the car. Fire crews said a bystander hit the pump's emergency shutoff.

"There was some fuel on the ground. ... The pump was shut off, which shut all the pumps down. Very little fuel actually leaked on the ground," said Battalion Chief Gary Benson of the Glendale Fire Department.

While the gas pump was destroyed, nobody was hurt.
